WATERLOO - Paul F. "Blacky" Pavlovec, 87, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Calmar, son of William and Clara Huinker Pavlovec.

He graduated from Calmar High School and was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Pavlovec worked in the foundry core room at John Deere Tractor Manufacturing Co. from 1947 to 1979.

Survived by two nephews, William K. (Karen) Heiple and Craig H. (Kathy) Goehrig, both of Waterloo; a niece, Sue (Wayne) Molstead of Waterloo; a niece-in-law, Jill Heiple of Waterloo; a special friend, Bonnie Fry of Waterloo; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother, William; a sister, Marcella Heiple-Goehrig; and a nephew, John Heiple.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with inurnment at a later date. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
