CEDAR FALLS - Eva M. Smith, 93, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

She was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Pocahontas, daughter of Ira and Anna Peterson Larson. She married Paul E. Smith on June 9, 1941, in Pocahontas; he died March 21, 2004.

She earned her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) and taught in a one-room schoolhouse near Pocahontas prior to marriage. Mrs. Smith then worked at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works during the war, Titus manufacturing, and later was bookkeeper for her husband’s business.

Survived by a son, Carl (Debbie) of Waterloo; a daughter, Martha (Donald) Norton of Robins; six grandchildren, Alea (Brandon) Roby, Brittany (Victor) Smith, Jessica Norton, Trischa (Craig) Tucker, Bailey Smith and Ami Dark; four great-grandchildren, Austin Daniel and Kyler Roby, Lexie Lee Nelson and Keeley Hall; and a daughter-in-law, Beverly Smith of Dike.

Preceded in death by a son, Kirk Smith; four sisters; and four brothers.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, preceded by an hour of visitation, with inurnment at a later date in Alcock Cemetery, Frederika. Richardson Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the family.
