CEDAR FALLS - Robert F. “Bob” Johnson, 92, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born Aug. 8, 1921, in New Hartford, son of Clifford and Trena Vanderlan Johnson. He married Shirley on April 5, 1958, in Omaha, Neb.

A 1938 graduate of New Hartford High School, Mr. Johnson was employed as a machinist with Hawkeye Steel Products for 38 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls.

Survived by his wife; a son, Ronald (Kay) of Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Jody (Aaron) Connor of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Daniel and Anna Beth Johnson, and Casey and Caitlin Connor; and a sister, Genevieve Hill of Crosby, Minn.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Merton, Arnold and Lee; and two sisters, Clara Wittren and Gertrude Johnson.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, with inurnment at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Service and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman who thoroughly enjoyed all of his Canadian fishing trips. Anything connected with Iowa Hawkeye football or basketball was seldom missed.
