Brian Lee Jackson, 38, of Fairbank, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, in Clithrall, Minn., from a drowning in a boat accident.

He was born Aug. 8, 1966, in Waterloo, son of Sharon Walther. He married Denise Gilson on Aug. 21, 1999, at United Methodist Church, Fairbank.

Mr. Jackson had been a Buchanan County deputy for 14 years, and also had served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Adam at home; his mother, Sharon Clark of Janesville; a sister, Melissa Walther of Janesville; a brother, Dennis Walther of Waverly; a sister in-law, Jenny Bentley of Waverly; and his grandmother, Pauline Smith of Fairbank.

Preceded in death by grandparents, Robert and Bernice Black and Ronald Westendorf.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Fortsch-Duffy Post 552 of Fairbank and the Iowa Sheriff and Deputy Association Honor Guard. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank.
