LA PORTE CITY - Wilbur F. Weber, 86, of La Porte City, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, in the emergency room of Covenant Medical Center.

He was born May 10, 1921, on the family farm in Martin County, Minn., son of Henry and Agatha Ginder Weber. He married Vivian Jones on June 8, 1949, in Cresco. She died April 24, 2000.

Mr. Weber worked in the feed department at Rath Packing Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1979. After retirement, he continued working on his farm.

Survivors include numerous nephews and nieces; and a sister-in-law Melva (Dale) Hart.

Preceded in death by seven brothers, George, Leo, Raymond, Henry, Albert, James and Charles; and three sisters, Bertha, Liz, and Freida.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

Wilbur enjoyed farming, gardening, and his horses. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and enjoyed spending time with friends, neighbors, and family. He enjoyed going to church socials and out to eat with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
