WATERLOO - Norma Jean Sickel, 88, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born Aug. 31, 1925, in Elkader, daughter of Lorraine and Gladys Henkes Sickel.

A graduate of Waterloo West High School in 1944, Ms. Sickel worked for Black’s Department Store, New York Fashion, and retired from Sears Department Store, where she worked as a bookkeeper. She was a member at Ascension Lutheran Church.

Survived by two nephews, Gary Sickle of Waterloo and Craig Sickel of St. Louis.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Glenn Sickel.

Services:; 11 a.m. Monday at Ascension Lutheran Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery following the luncheon. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Valley Lutheran School.
