CEDAR FALLS - Garry L. Schumacher, 63, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waverly and Tripoli, died Sunday, Jan. 12, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, from complications of prostate cancer.

He was born March 26, 1950, in Waterloo, son of Armin and Nadean Tiedt Schumacher. He graduated from high school at Waverly-Shell Rock in 1968, and then moved to California and worked on a U.S. Navy Base. He returned to Tripoli in 1971 and worked constructing grain silos. He went to work for Carnation/Nestle in Waverly in 1981, retiring in 2012 with 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls.

Survived by his mother, Nadean Bruns of Waverly; a brother, Dennis (Denise) of Waverly; and two sisters, Julie (Parker Allan) Schumacher of Minneapolis and Sharon (Ted) Parks of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by his father.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Friday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, where visitation begins at 11 a.m. At his request, his body was cremated.
