CEDAR FALLS - James L. Baumeister, 77, of Cedar Falls, died at home Monday, Jan. 6, 2014.

He was born Oct. 29, 1936, in Watauga, S.D., son of Leo and Florentine Erz Baumeister. He married Jean Barnes on Sept. 26, 1959, in Chicago.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Baumeister worked for A.J. Fuller Construction of New York and other construction companies. In 1969 he began working for Barnes Lumber, Cedar Falls. He was a volunteer for Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo.

Survived by his wife; a son, Steven (Beth) of Waukee; two daughters, Stephanie Lickteig of Clive and Melissa (Erik) Breddin of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren, Courtney (Bryan) Mann, Caitlin, Joseph and Steven Lickteig, Ashleigh Baumeister, Jessica (Adam) Vaught, Scott and Noah Baumeister, and Adriana and Jasmyn Breddin.

Preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Raymond, Buelis, Edwin and Norman.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, and an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Allen Memorial Hospital Volunteers.
