WATERLOO - Edrie V. Adams, 87, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Friendship Village Retirement Center.

She was born Aug. 3, 1917, in Belle Plaine, daughter of Bert and Myrtle Claver Adams. She received a bachelors degree from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, and a masters degree from University of Iowa, Iowa City.

Ms. Adams worked for 36 years with the Waterloo Community Schools, retiring in 1980. She was a teacher at Lafayette, Kittrell, Kingsley and West Middle and an administrator at Cresthaven and Orange Elementary.

She was a member of First Congregational Church, Iowa Historical Society, Cedar Falls Historical Society, DAR, a life member of the National and Iowa State Education Associations, and past president of Waterloo Education Association and Waterloo Womens Club.

Survivors include three nieces, Joy (Paul) Sires of Cedar Falls, and Carol Brown and Jeanne Slade, both of Oregon; and a nephew, Ralph (Rose) Parry of Bettendorf.

Preceded in death by a brother, Albert Adams; and two sisters, Florence Parry and Edna Idle.

Family-directed memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church. There will be no visitation; her body was donated to the University of Iowa. Locke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
