Ken Thayer, 43, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of cancer.

He was born Nov. 12, 1956, in Lincoln, Neb., son of Kenneth and Elaine Osterman Thayer. He married Judy Ann Busch on May 20, 1978, in Hallam, Neb.

Mr. Thayer received his bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Nebraska in 1978 and his master's degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1982. He was employed at the John Deere Product Engineering Center for 22 years and an engineer.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Jonathan and Eric, both of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Rachael Thayer of Cedar Falls; his parents of Denton, Neb.; a brother, David of Lincoln; a sister, Loree Thayer of Denton; and paternal grandmother, Viola Thayer of Denton.

Preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Willard Thayer; and maternal grandparents, William and Agnes Osterman.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with inurnment at a later date. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home, with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Pancreatic Cancer Research at the University of Iowa, in care of the family.
