Jim was born in Waterloo on Feb. 5, 1942, and moved to Monticello at a young age. He married Sharon Miller on Oct. 22, 1961, in Castle Grove. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Cedar Rapids, where Jim attended barber college. He was a barber for 38 years on Mount Vernon Road, where his clientele were not only customers, but friends. He also designed and created stained glass windows.

He loved the outdoors and all the wild life that surrounded his home. His biggest joy was the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

A memorial fund has been established.
