Harold R. Walker, 78, of 203 Elk Run St., died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of cancer.

He was born May 8, 1922, in Waterloo, son of George L. and Ella May Kinsel Walker. He married Virginia Retz on Nov. 27, 1943, in Waterloo.

Mr. Walker worked for 39 years at Shephard Lumber Co., retiring in 1985, then worked for three years at BPI. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survived by his wife; a son, Bob of Waterloo; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, William of Dover, Ark., and Lewis of Gig Harbor, Wash.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Laurence, Everett and Charles; and a sister, Edna Billman.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
