CEDAR FALLS -- Alta Keiser, 98, formerly of Kalona, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000 at her son's home in Cedar Falls after a lengthy illness.

She was born Oct. 23, 1902, in rural Wellman, daughter of William D. and Mary Hershberger Brenneman. She married Ora Keiser on June 28, 1933. He died Sept. 22, 1983.

Mrs. Keiser attended Coe College, graduated from Hesston Academy and Goshen College and did graduate work at the University of Iowa. She taught school for 23 years in rural one-room schools, taught three years at Center High School and taught 12 years in the Mid Prairie School System. She was a charter member of Kalona Mennonite Church.

Survived by a son, John of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alma Horst of Kalona.

Preceded in death by a brother, Clark Brenneman.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kalona Mennonite Church, preceded by burial at 9:15 a.m. in Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona, with family present from 3 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
