CEDAR FALLS - Mavis Berends, 47, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, following a lengthy illness.

She was born Aug. 3, 1953, in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Peter and Grace Eckhoff Berends. She graduated from Price Lab School and worked for many years at Cedar Falls Utilities.

Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Janson and her husband, John, of Glendale Heights, Ill.; her mother of Cedar Falls; and two brothers, Marvin Berends of New Hartford and Jerald Berends of Hudson.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
