Lois Jean Nuss, 77, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Cedar Falls. Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Falls Gospel Hall, 1302 Walnut St., Cedar Falls, with Robert Orr speaking. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene.

Lois was born Aug. 12, 1935, in Greene, a daughter of Henry and Martha (Meyer) Schmidt. She graduated from Greene High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa.

Lois married Erwin Paul Nuss in Waverly on June 4, 1955. She worked at Black’s Department Store in Waterloo, Self Help of Waverly, Esco Estates Warehouse, Rydell Chevrolet, YWCA and the Bremer County Conservation Commission.

Lois is survived by a daughter, Kim Krause of Buffalo, Minn.; a son, James B. Nuss of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild with another on the way; a sister, Thelma (Howard) Allison of Des Moines; three brothers, Harry (Eloise) Schmidt and Robert (Karen) Schmidt, both of Greene, and Mervin (Ruth) Schmidt of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ellene and Will Landers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 219, Greene, IA 50636.
