WATERLOO - John Russell Merrick Jr., 68, of Waterloo, died ¬Sunday, Aug. 14, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 24, 1936, son of John Merrick Sr. and Helen Elizabeth. He married Marie Jean Linhart Sept. 28, 1957, in Evansdale.

Mr. Merrick worked for 30 years at John Deere in Waterloo and also owned and operated J & J Corvette Center in Hudson.

Survivors include his wife of Waterloo; two sons, Dennis Jay of Waterloo and Brent Alan (Michelle) of Hudson; seven grandchildren, Chantel, Shainne and Sharessa Boeckmann, Korey Merrick, Aliea Fox-Merrick, and Ryan and Jacob White; a brother, James (LaVia) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and two sisters, Judith Ishmael of Sioux Falls and Darlene Kirchemann of St. Paul, Minn.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Lynn Boeckmann.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where the family will greet friends.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
