SPRIGGS, MCFLOY, SPARKS

Benjamin Spriggs, 54, Waterloo resident, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at an Independence hospital, following a lingering illness of the past several hears. He had previously been at Oakdale, Ia.

He was born on March 15, 1898, at Kettering, Northamptionshire, England, the son of George and Sara Spriggs.

On Dec. 28, 1919, he was married at Hatlepool, Durham, England to Norah McFloy. They came to this country in 1920 and had resided here since that time until recently.

Mr.Spriggs had been employed by the Illinois Central Railroad and at one time had been a janitor for the National Bank of Waterloo.

He served with the English Army in World War I and in World War ** with the United States army. Mr. Spriggs was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Waterloo.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Miss Florence J. Spriggs, 421 Vine; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Sparks, 639 Wallgate, and another sister in Kettering, England. Two brothers also survive in England.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

The body was taken to Parrott & Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are being planned for Tuesday. The body may be viewed at the funeral home after Monday noon.
