Gideon F. Heckenlively, 68, of 1907 Robin Rd., died at his home about 6:30 pm Friday after suffering a heart attack.

Services are being planned for 2 pm Tuesday at the Kerns-Dykeman Chapel.

Mr. Heckenlively had been employed as a machinist at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 41 years, retiring in 1962. He owned and operated a greenhouse at his home the past 20 years. He was a member of the Baptist faith and served in the Army during World War I.

Mr. Heckenlively was born Feb. 20, 1897, at Stanberry, Mo., the son of Gideon and Sarah E. Wilkerson Heckenlively. He married Flo Moots on Jan. 10, 1920, here, and resided in Waterloo since that time.

Survivors include the wife; five sons, Ray F., Richard D., and Ronald L., all of 1901 Robin Rd.; Donald C., 1907 Huntingdon Rd., and Wayne A., of Melrude, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Pauline E. Wilson, 306 1/2 West 4th St.; four brothers, Walter and Seth, both of Stanberry, Mo.; George of LeMars; and Carl of Sioux City; three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Snoddy of Stanberry, Mo., and Lottie Heckenlively and Mrs. Florence Moritz, both of Sioux City, and 13 grandchildren.

Mr. Heckenlively was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a daughter in 1960. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 pm today.
