CEDAR FALLS - Donald Arthur Boxwell, 59, of Gilroy, Calif., formerly of Cedar Falls, died at home July 27, 2005 following a short illness with cancer.

He was born July 5, 1946, in Cedar Falls, son of Dr. Lloyd Lee and Margaret Slater Boxwell. He was a 1964 graduate of Cedar Falls High School and earned a degree in aeronautical engineering from Iowa State University, Ames. He worked at the Ames Research Lab (NASA) in Mountain View, Calif., for over 30 years in the area of helicopter acoustics.

Survived by his wife, Alice; a daughter, Rachael; three sons, Matthew, Daniel and Stephen; a grandson; and two sisters, Roberta Witkin of Mesa, Ariz., and Sandra Bagnall of Harlow, Essex, England.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services and burial were Aug. 5 in Gilroy.
