WATERLOO -- Paul Warren Morris, 74, of Waterloo, Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, from complications of diabetes.

He was born May 10, 1939, in Waterloo, son of Samuel and Thelma Gaede Morris. He married Beverly Moulds on Dec. 23, 1958, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Mr. Morris graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and economics from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, in 1965. He worked in the accounting department at Chamberlain Manufacturing Corp., and then Carney, Alexander, Marold & Co. for a few years. He received his CPA certificate in 1973 and was a partner in Schoof & Morris Accounting. In 1980 he owned Paul W. Morris, CPA, which he sold to Hellman Accounting in 2003, retiring from there in 2005.

He served in the U.S. Army; was a member of and served as past secretary from 1977-1978 of the Waterloo Sertoma Club and was granted lifetime membership to Sertoma International. He also was a member of AICPA, ISCPA and IMA.

Survived by his wife; a son, Jay (Angela) of Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter, Kathryn (J. Ryan) Thompson of Evansdale; three grandchildren, Matthew and Lauren Morris and J. Davis Thompson; two sisters, Kim (Lonnie) Phillips of Wellsburg and Margie Gibbons of Waukee; and a brother, Craig (Carin) of Maple Grove, Minn.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, Waterloo, under the auspices of Immanuel Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Iowa National Guard Honors. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Waterloo Salvation Army or University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
