DUNKERTON -- Phyllis Arlene Kuenstling, 84, of Dunkerton, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at the Western Home Communities, Cedar Falls.

She was born Aug. 1, 1929, in Primghar, daughter of John and Beatrice M. Gately Hauptly. She married Gerhard Kuenstling on April 16, 1961, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dunkerton; he died June 28, 1985.

Mrs. Kuenstling was a high school graduate and attended three years of college. She was a registered nurse in the obstetrics department at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, for 17 years.

Survived by two sons, Ken (Deanne) and Kevin, both of Dunkerton; 12 grandchildren, Mary (Dennis) Snead of Fort Stockton, Texas, Bill (Pam) Faust of Oceanside, Calif., Brian (Susie) Moulds, Niki Moulds, Keith Kuenstling, Bethany (TJ Anderson) Kuenstling, Devin (Kym Kruse) Kuenstling, Shelby Kuentsling and Kory Kuenstling, all of Dunkerton, Dustin (Angie) Moulds of Readlyn, Danny (Andrea) Moulds of Cedar Falls and Kyle (Whitney) Kuenstling of Cedar Rapids; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dale and Carroll Hauptly; a half brother, Lester Gately; a half sister, Reba Steffens; and two stepdaughters, Karen Faust and Karla Moulds

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bennington Township, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
