Mrs. Robert P. Sterrett, 51, former resident of Waterloo, died at a Richmond, Calif., hospital Saturday of pneumonia, following major cancer surgery, according to word received here by Mrs. Sterrett's aunt, Mrs. Cecelia Storm Lewis of 515 Oak Ave.

Mrs. Sterrett was born, Betty Lou Gardner on a farm north of Waterloo on Oct. 12, 1919, the daughter of Enos J. and Ruth Sheridan Gardner. She was graduated from East High School in 1938 and was employed as an operator for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co.

She was married to Robert P. Sterrett in 1940 in Waterloo. The later moved to California. At the time of her death she was employed as chief operator at Herrick Memorial Hospital, Richmond, California.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Ed Taglifero of Encino, Calif.; Mrs. Jan Kusy of El Sobranto, Calif.; and four grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Joseph E. and Richard E. Gardner, both of Los Angeles; one sister, Mrs. Roy Magnusson of Brooklyn, N. Y.; her stepmother, Mrs. Dortha Gardner, Russell Lamson Apartments; two half brothers, Enos J. Jr., San Bernadino, Calif.; and David Gardner of the U. S. Army, Washington, D. C.; one half sister, Mrs. Robert (Betsy) Hurtado of 2715 La Porte Road.

Mrs. Sterrett was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Sunset View Mortuary, Richmond, Calif. Burial will be at Richmond.
