WATERLOO - Donald F. Thomson, 83, of Waterloo, died Monday, March 27, 2006, at Western Home Communities-Martin Center, Cedar Falls, of cancer.

He was born March 20, 1923, in Waterloo, son of Duncan and Eva Makinster Thomson. He married Inez Wilson on April 25, 1946, in Waterloo. She died May 28, 1985.

Mr. Thomson served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked as an electrician with the IBEW Local 288, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the American Legion and also was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Waterloo.

Survivors include a son, Ron of La Crosse, Wis.; two daughters, Donna (Bill) Priebe of Mason City and Gwen Ramsey of Waterloo; and three grandchildren, Todd Slack, Mike Ramsey and Katie (Ben) Keister.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Keith.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Waterloo, with graveside military rites at 1 p.m. by Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion and Waterloo Post 1623 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Public visitation 4 to 7 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society or the church.

Donald enjoyed golfing and biking, but most of all he loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
