WATERLOO - Johnny C. Rice, 74, of Waterloo, died at home Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013.

He was born March 14, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, son of Jay and Esther Wolf Rice. He married Janice Savago on April 30, 1960, and they later divorced.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Rice was a self-employed entrepreneur for many years.

Survived by his significant other, Audrey Kugler of Waterloo; a daughter, Jackie (Bill) Kugler of Waterloo; two sons, Jay Rice of Waterloo and Justin (Angie) Rice of Minot, N.D.; six grandchildren, Billy (Chrissy) Kugler, Nick (Cherie) Kugler, Jessica (Tyler) Rosenberg, Tyler, Marissa and Hunter Rice; and six great-grandchildren, Moriah, Adyson, Korbin, Kynslie and two on the way.

Preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nonnie; and two brothers, Cleo and Tom.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Monday at La Porte City Funeral Home, with inurnment in West View Cemetery, La Porte City. Full military honors by USS San Diego American Legion Post 207 and VFW Normandy Post 3983. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today and an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.
