WATERLOO - Jerry Jay “JJ” Linsey, 69, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

He was born March 13, 1944, in Waterloo, son of Leo and Verlie Smith Linsey. He married Linda Lawrence on June 18, 1966, in Waterloo.

A 1963 graduate of Waterloo East High School, Mr. Linsey worked at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works from 1967 to 1997, when he retired. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Shade Tree Street Rod Club.

Survived by his wife; a son, Michael (Robyn) of Waterloo; a daughter, Lisa (Danny) Geary of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Katelyn and Andrew Terrones; two stepgrandchildren, Danny and Tyler Geary; two brothers, Larry (Kay) of St. Charles, Mo., and Roger of Waterloo; and a half brother, Harold (Judy) Ripley of Shell Rock.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Jean Linsey.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Becker Chapman Post 138, VFW Post 1623 and the Navy Funeral Honors Team. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today and an hour before services Friday at the chapel.
