CEDAR FALLS - Joann Simmons Lackey, 75, of Cedar Falls and East Moline, Ill., died in Waterloo on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, from complications of lung disease.

She was born Jan. 20, 1938, in Woodbury, Tenn., daughter of Allie and Vera Conley Simmons. She married Roy Lackey on June 20, 1964, in Plymouth, Mich.; he preceded her in death.

A graduate of from Cannon County High School in Tennessee, Mrs. Lackey worked for AT&T for 30 years, and then for Barjan Co. She was a member of the Pioneers of America, a club for retired AT&T employees, and volunteered at Illini Hospital.

Survived by a daughter, Suzanne (Brian) Luecke of Cedar Falls; and two granddaughters, Leann and Lynn, both of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with burial in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and also from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in East Moline.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for donation to Cedar Valley Hospice and the American Lung Association.

Joann enjoyed travel when her health allowed it, was an avid NBA fan and loved her family more than anything.
