WATERLOO - Jackie E. Brinkema, 77, of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013.

He was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Waterloo, son of Jacob and Helen Brinkema. He married Carol McMillen in 1954 and they later divorced. He married Sheri Staples in 1987.

Mr. Brinkema served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Survived by two sons, Jack Gene of Washington state and Brian (Mary Beth) of Independence; three daughters, Tami (Randy) Sheppard of Jamestown, Callif., Laura of Cedar Falls and Lana of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Blake, Jayla, Jason, Julie and Sean; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Dinnebier of Waterloo and Janice (Keith) Hanson of Waterloo; and a brother, Rick.

Preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Angel; a brother, Gary; and a sister, Judy.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Reformed Church, 205 Maxwell Ave., preceded by an hour of visitation.

A memorial fund will designated by the family at a later date.
