Edward William Jesse Jr., 78, of Jesup, died at home Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013.

He was born Nov. 17, 1935, in Spring Creek Township of Black Hawk County, son of E.W. Jesse and Amanda Elizabeth Benorden.

He graduated from La Porte City High School in 1953. Mr. Jesse had served in the U.S. Marines Reserves, was a longtime Black Hawk and Buchanan County area farmer and a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church, rural La Porte City.

Survived by two brothers, Willard (Lois) and Leland, both of La Porte City; two sisters, Wilma Marshall of La Porte City and Margaret (Richard) Brust of Manmouth, Ore.

Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Raymond, Virden, Melvin and Russell; and two sisters, Florence and Winona.

Private family burial will be held at a later date.
