EVANSDALE - Phyllis I. Lyndgaard, 94, of Hendricks, Minn., formerly of Evansdale, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Hendricks Nursing Home in Minnesota of natural causes.

She was born June 7, 1919, in Barron, Wis., daughter of George F. and Louise M. Krause Doehle. She married Virgil Kyhl Lyndgaard on Dec. 4, 1943, in Seattle; he died in 1975.

Mrs. Lyndgaard was employed as a telephone operator in Seattle during World War II. She was a member of the Christian Service Guild at the First Reformed Church, Evansdale.

Survived by a grandson, Larry (Sheri) Shonk of Independence; a son-in-law, Paul Shonk of Evansdale; nine great-grandchildren, Amy (Tyler) Bledsoe, Amanda, Reagan, Jenna, Caleb, Rachel, Abigail, Aaron and Benjamin Shonk, all of Independence; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary; a daughter, Susan Shonk; a brother, Walter Doehle; and three sisters, Norma Neilsen, Laura Miller and Leona Johannsen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Assembly of God Church, Elk Run Heights, with burial at a later date in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kearns Funeral Service, Kimball Chapel, Waterloo, and an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Phyllis was a supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, an avid master gardener, and loved reading, sewing and needlework.
