Veda Elene Gregory, 88, of Waverly, died at home Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009.

She was born Sept. 27, 1921, near Sullivan, Ill., daughter of Kenneth and Genoa Owens Miller. She married Sheral Gregory on Feb. 22, 1941, in St. Louis. He died Oct. 28, 2008.

Mrs. Gregory served as a pastor's wife and also was employed at the Marble Rock Nursing Home. She and her husband managed Colonial Manor Apartments, Waterloo, from 1982 to 1991, when they retired. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Waverly.

Survived by two daughters, Joy (Roger) Jenks of Columbus, Ohio, and Sherry (Lynn) Burman of Waverly; a son, Ron (Lynn) of San Antonio; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Easter (Harold) Eads of Lovington, Ill.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Alpha Gardner and Lucilla Hall; and a brother, Leon Miller.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.
