The Rev. Sheral Gregory, 89, of Waverly, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, from complications of pneumonia.

He was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Arthur, Ill., son of Elbert and Hatha Belle Frogge Gregory. On Feb. 22, 1941, he married Veda Elene Miller in St. Louis, Mo.

The Rev. Gregory graduated from Arthur High School in 1937 and from Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, in 1946. He pastored churches in Pontiac, Peoria, Germantown and Dayton, Ill., Jennings, Mo., Plattsmouth, Neb., Marble Rock and Bloomfield. He also was employed at White Farm Equipment in Charles City, Hydrotile in Nashua, and John Deere in Waterloo. He and his wife managed Colonial Manor Apartments, Waterloo, from 1982 to 1991, when he retired. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Waverly.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Joy (Roger) Jenks of Columbus, Ohio, and Sherry (Lynn) Burman of Waverly; a son, Ron (Lynn) of Bloomington, Minn.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Easter (Harold) Eads of Lovington, Ill.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Tellus, Reed, and his twin, Heral; and three sisters, Cathrine, Pearl and Ina.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church Flood Fund.
