CEDAR FALLS - Janet Raye Swartz Jones, 62, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, from complications of cancer.

She was born Dec. 9, 1950, in Waterloo, daughter of Leonard A. “Sam” and Bethel Daisie Jenkins Swartz. She married Michael Dean Jones in 1971; he died in 2005.

She attended the Waterloo Community School System. Mrs. Jones lived in California for 30 years where she worked in retail for Service Merchandise, Kmart, Kent Lambert and Ross Clothing. Upon returning to Waterloo she worked for Wonder Bread, Allen Memorial Hospital, and was employed by Sallys Beauty Supply until last August.

Survived by four sisters, Marsha Sewick, Marilyn Halley-Tarr, and her twin Janice (Mike) Hartz, all of Waterloo, and Crystal Hartmann of Cedar Falls; and a brother, Dennis J. “ The Boo Man” Swartz of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ronald D. Swartz; and four brothers-in-law, PFC Russell L. Halley, Wayne Sewick, Kenny Jones and Harley Jones.

Private family graveside services will be held in spring 2014 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. There will be no public visitation, her body was cremated. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, is assisting the family.
