Services were Thursday morning for Walter R. Kirch, 81, of 1211 W. Mullan Ave., who died at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Schoitz Memorial Hospital of cancer. Burial was at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

He was born Aug. 21. 1895, in Des Moines, the son of Herman and Frances Knopp Kirch. He married Lucy Caulfield Sept. 12, 1923, and she died in 1952. He married Gertrude Missel Aug. 28, 1954, and she died Dec. 4, 1969. He married Clara Lavenz Missel Dec. 29, 1970.

He was a retired jeweler and had his own shop in Des Moines. He served in the Army in France during World War I.

Survivors include his wife.

Oppold Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
