EVANSDALE -- Melvin L. Bailey, 63, of Evansdale, died at home Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013.

He was born Dec. 23, 1949, in Moberly, Mo., son of Harold “Dean” and Lela Minor Bailey. On Oct. 3, 1970, he married Kathleen Ginther in Waterloo.

Mr. Bailey attended Waterloo East High School. During his working career he was a truck driver, worked in maintenance, worked as a builder, and owned and operated a concession wagon, retiring in 2009 after 37 years of service.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Ronnie and Bobby, both of Evansdale; two grandchildren, Blake Mathes and Ian Bailey; three sisters, Sheila (Dean) Cummings of Evansdale, Diane (Jeff) McConkey of Greeley, Colo., and Brenda (Larry) Kimmerle of Winona, Minn.; and a brother, David (Lorraine) Arbuckle of Haven, Kan.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 7 p.m. Wednesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, preceded by an hour of visitation.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Melvin enjoyed traveling and construction projects.
