WATERLOO -- Brenda Kay Barron, 55, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer.

She was born July 15, 1958, at Schoitz Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, daughter of Arlen and Mozelle Poock. She married Dennis G. Barron on Aug. 23, 1980. They later divorced.

She was a 1976 graduate of Waterloo West High School and went on to attend Ellsworth Community College. She retired from GMAC Mortgage in 2010 after 34 years of service. For many years, she was actively involved with the Waterloo Jaycees and My Waterloo Days.

Survived by a daughter, Cortney Layne Barron (fiance Luke Mikkelsen) of Waterloo; her mother, Mozelle (Matthew) Kuhn of Waterloo; a brother, Brian J. (Pamela) Poock of Hudson; a sister, Beayn Poock of Waterloo; a nephew, Eric Poock of Waterloo; a niece, Jenalee (Tyler) Wright of Des Moines; and a great-niece and nephew, Amaya and Ryker Wright.

Preceded in death by her father; paternal grandparents, Art and Julia Reuscher; and maternal grandparents, CJ and Blanche Shaffer.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Prairie Lakes Church, 118 High St., Waterloo. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, An Overton Family Service, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the family; a donation will be made at a later date.
