CEDAR FALLS -- Gail Ellen Boss Sands, 69, of Greensboro, Ga., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 29, 1944, daughter of the late Philip and Lenora Laconte Boss. On Dec. 11, 1965, she married Martin Gary Sands.

She graduated from Brooklyn Madison High School and earned a doctorate from California Coast University. She and her husband worked together at Dermatology Associates in Waterloo for 20 years, until she retired in 2003. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Waterloo and the Reynold’s Plantation Ladies Club in Greensboro.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Bryan David (Lori) and Michael Eric (Renee), both of Cedar Falls; a brother, Bruce David (Peggy) Boss of Grass Valley, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Zachary, Zoe and David Sands.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave., with inurnment in Garden of Memories Mausoleum, both in Waterloo. Visitation will be for an hour before services at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow in the Community Room of Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, 3146 Kimball Ave., Waterloo.

For over 20 years, Gail and her husband had spent their vacations at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, and in January 2013, they made it their permanent home, moving from Cedar Falls. There she enjoyed playing bridge, visiting with friends and entertaining her children and grandchildren from Cedar Falls.
