Rick Christoffersen, 48, of Denver, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at his home of an apparent heart attack.

He was born April 12, 1958, in Waterloo, son of Jim and Lee Muir Christoffersen. He married Kelly Laube in June 1976, in Denver, and they were later divorced. He then married Sheila Mahoney in August 2001 in Denver.

He graduated from Denver High School in 1976 and went to work in the foundry at John Deere, Waterloo. He also owned and operated the Alibi for five years during the 1980s. He later received a B.S. in manufacturing technology in 1996 and a master's degree in manufacturing processes in 2004. Mr. Christoffersen was most recently a manufacturing engineer for the 8000 Business Unit at John Deere. He also served as a volunteer fireman for 15 years.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Amanda (Jeff) Davis of Coralville and Sydnie Mahoney at home; a son, Adam of Cedar Falls; his parents, Jim and Lee Christoffersen of Denver; a brother, Randy of Long Beach, Calif.; and a sister, Kimberlee Christoffersen of Sacramento, Calif.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Denver, with burial in the Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver.

Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Dance Marathon Fund.
