WATERLOO - Jack Carl Krueger, 86, of Waterloo, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at the La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born May 12, 1921, in La Porte City, son of Carl R. and Lucille Husman Krueger. He was raised by his grandparents, Dallas and Bessie Husman, formerly of La Porte City. He married Mildred Frost and they later divorced. He married Mariann Basford on Sept. 6, 1949, in Leavenworth, Kan.

Mr. Krueger worked as an independent trucker for Warren Transport for 40 years, retiring in 1984. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Waterloo Elks Lodge No. 290 BPO.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Bill (Nancy) of Waterloo; two daughters, Mary Lou (Tom) Frost of Gilbertville and Karen (Keith Highberger) Krueger of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his his parents and grandparents.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center in lieu of flowers.
