[Cedar Falls Record, Thursday, February 3, 1916, Cedar Falls, Iowa]
(From Thursday's Daily)

The death today of Harvey Jones, 82, following a brief illness with pneumonia, probably will put an end to the action recently instituted by him to recover property deeded to a granddaughter with whom he had recently made his home in St. Louis. Jones returned to Cedar Falls only a few weeks ago. He was a pioneer settler here. His death occurred at the N. M. Johnston home, 123 East Seventh Street at 12:20 this morning.

Mr. Jones was born in Chautauqua County, New York, Dec. 5, 1833, and was the son of Samuel and Catherine Jones. When a child his parents moved to Crawford county, Pa., and later to Stephenson County, Ill.

On February 1, 1857, he was united in marriage to Jenna* A. White, at Freeport, Ill. Seven children were born to the couple all of whom are now deceased. In 1865, he moved to Blackhawk County. Iowa. His first wife died on March 5, 1880. He was married again on September 7, 1887, to Patience E. White, who was a sister of his first wife. No children resulted from this union. His second wife died April 24, 1902.

Mr. Jones lived for many years with his daughter, Mrs. George Sheerer on Iowa Street, and after her death went to St. Louis to live with a granddaughter, Mrs. Ethel Sheerer Kupper. After his alleged mistreatment a short time ago he came back here.

He is survived by three grandchildren: Mrs. Ethel Kupper, Harvey E. Sheerer, of Mason City, and Charles R. Sheerer, of this city.

The funeral services will be held from the Johnston home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon with Rev. J. D. Vannoy in charge. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
