CEDAR FALLS -- Gerald “Jerry” W. Bauer, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Cedar Falls, son of Emil and Julia Bruhn Bauer. He married Allene Degener on Sept. 1, 1948, in Hudson.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Bauer was owner/operator of Red’s Body Shop from 1956 to 1990.

Survived by his wife; a son, Dan (Lesley) of New Richmond, Wis.; a daughter, Teri (Ray) Gray of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard of Benson; and a sister, Thelma Gutknecht of Dike.

Preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rick; and a sister, Berniece Hesse.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with inurnment in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Christian Crusaders.
