WATERLOO -- Frederick Lawrence “Larry” Sorenson, 82, of Waterloo, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

He was born Oct. 29, 1931, in Iowa City, son of Fred and Beatrice West Sorenson. He married Kathleen Kohl on March 20, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

A 1950 graduate of Waterloo West High School, Mr. Sorenson worked at Berkley Pinkerton Hardware and later worked in the sliced bacon department at Rath Packing Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Isaac Walton League, Washburn.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Karen Motsinger of Waterloo; three sons, Larry (Laurie) of Shawnee, Kan., Kevin (Shadlee Goodell) of Hudson and Lee (Julie) of Spirit Lake; and seven grandchildren, Andrew Swinton, Nicholas, Joshua, Jordyn and Riley Sorenson, and Josh and Katie Goodell.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, Kevin Motsinger.

Public visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel. His body has been cremated and private family services will be held at a later date.
