[Cedar Falls Semi Weekly Cedar Falls Gazette, Tuesday, February 24, 1903, Cedar Falls, Iowa]

The funeral services for Miss Eliza Carpenter were held privately Saturday afternoon, February 21, at 2 o'clock, from the home of her brother, Oscar W. Carpenter, on Bluff Street. The services were conducted by Rev. Jas. E. Snowden and were short and impressive.

The deceased was a native of Vermont, having been born in Wardsborough, Windom County, in that state in February 19, 1827, and her death occurred on the 76th anniversary of her birth. She moved to Cedar Falls about forty years ago with her parents, both of whom have been dead for many years. She had lived all the time in the house where her death occurred.

Miss Carpenter was a woman of quiet and unassuming disposition, making friends and holding them, but bound up in her home life to a great extent.

She leaves one brother, Oscar W. Carpenter, of this city, all others of her near relatives having preceded her to the final reward.
