Mrs. Sarah Thornton, about 70, of 428 Argyle Street, died at Allen Memorial Hospital yesterday
noon of complications incident to advanced age.

Mrs. Thornton had been at the hospital since Wednesday. Her husband, Edward Thornton, who was a jeweler at Davidson's Department Store for many years, died five years ago.

She was Sarah Gemmell before her marriage.

Surviving are one son, Paul Thornton of Lacanada, Cal.; one brother, David Gemmell, Cleaveland, O.p three sisters, Mrs. Grace Cole and Mrs. Margaret Brown, both of Oak Park, Ill, and Miss Anna Gemmell of Phoenix, Ariz.

Mrs. Thornton was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

The body was taken to O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be arranged later, pending the arrival of the son from California.
