CEDAR FALLS - Nancy L. LaRue, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center.

She was born Feb. 5, 1923, in Jefferson Barracks, Mo., daughter of Stanley and Lilian Guest Ashton. She married James LaRue on Jan. 20, 1945, in St. Louis.

Mrs. LaRue earned a bachelor's degree in education from State Teacher's College of Missouri (Southeast Missouri State) in 1944, and her master's degree in Library Science in 1970 from the University of Northern Iowa. She taught country school in Missouri and near Perry. She then taught ninth-grade English at Peet Junior High and later was librarian of four elementary schools in Cedar Falls for 14 years, retiring in 1984.

Survived by her husband; two daughters, Linda (Gary) Johanningmeier of Waukon and Kathryn (William) Gronberg of Cape Coral, Fla.; two sons, Richard of Saco, Maine, and David of Vineyard Haven, Mass.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doreen Maxey of Joshua, Texas.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Service and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials will be divided by the family and given to the Western Home Foundation, the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
