WATERLOO - Janice Rae Wade, 75, of Waterloo, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 14, 1930, in Hudson, S.D., daughter of Elwin R. and Opal C. Wicks Miller. On May 24, 1953, she married Leslie A. Wade in Hudson. He died Aug. 12, 1989.

Mrs. Wade graduated from high school in Hudson in 1948 and continued her education at Morningside College, Sioux City, where she received her undergraduate degree. She earned a master's degree from Drake University, Des Moines. She was an educator and over the years worked in Wall Lake, Akron, Gowry and Waterloo. She retired from the Waterloo school system after 38 years as an educator. She also was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo.

Survivors include a brother, Royce D. (Gerlinde) Miller of Geneseo, Ill.; a niece, Carol L. (Daniel) Connors of Bettendorf; and two nephews, Duane R. Miller of Champagne, Ill., and Gregory A. Miller of Rock Island, Ill.

Preceded in death by an infant brother, Darrel E. Miller.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Garden of Memories. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. There will be no visitation on Tuesday, July 4.
