CEDAR FALLS - Irene L. Maxson, 83, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly.

She was born March 17, 1923, in Hanlontown, daughter of Martin and Louise Marotz Oswald. She married Dean M. Maxson on Oct. 18, 1942, in Nashua. He died Dec. 29, 1997.

Mrs. Maxson was a legal secretary for the Larson & Carr Law Firm, Charles City, and later was employed with Waterloo Wood Bearing and Weyerhaeuser Co. She was past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Charles City.

Survivors include three sons, Douglas (Sharon) of Goldfield, David (Lynn) of Grundy Center and Michael (Diane) of Waterloo; a daughter, Patricia (Jim) Schmolt of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Myron Oswald of Harpers Ferry; and four sisters, Esther Hudson of Fresno, Calif., Irma Husome and Bernice Mixdorf, both of Cedar Falls, and Elaine (Jim) Vogel of Jesup.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Melvin Oswald.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
