WATERLOO - Bonnie L. Smith, 85, of Waterloo, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center of heart failure.

She was born Dec. 9, 1919, in Waterloo, daughter of Bert and Hattie Marquand. She married Richard W. Smith in Louisiana in May 1942. They were later divorced.

Bonnie was a homemaker all of her life and was active with T.O.P.S., Take Off Pounds Sensibly.

Survived by two sons, Richard E. (Nancy) of Waterloo and Robert A. of Aitkin, Minn.; six grandchildren, Julie (Kevin) Hinders of Cedar Falls, Angela Smith of Evansdale, Dawn Ellis of Wadena and Renee (Chris) Hesse, Krystal Freeman and Cari Freeman, all of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Smith; a son, Ronald; and two brothers, Berdine and Bernard Marquand.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
