CEDAR FALLS - Winifred Juanita Townsend, 96, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

She was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Kingsport, Tenn., daughter of David and Mary Boyer Pierce. She married Emerson Townsend in Pensacola, Fla., on Nov. 3, 1944. He died in February 1977.

She graduated from Kingsport High School. Mrs. Townsend had worked in retail in Cedar Falls, for Willoughby’s Department Store, Maggie’s Children’s Shop, and Treasure Chest. She was a member of the United Methodist Church circle.

Survived by a son, Bill (Linda) of Janesville; a daughter, Barb LeBahn of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, April (Chad) Clubine of Janesville, Tammy (Lincoln) Sink of Cedar Falls and Tracy (Chris) Adams of Waterloo; four great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Jon Thomas, Wayne, Irene and Iva.

Preceded in death by four siblings: Dave, Vesta, Kate and Ruth

Memorial services: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Service, where visitation begins at 4 p.m.

Memorials may be donated to Cedar Valley Hospice.
