EVANSDALE -Madeline Gielau, 77, of Evansdale, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 26, 1936, in Waterloo, daughter of William and Lucy Clark Gielau.

A 1955 graduate of Allison High School, Allison, Ms. Gielau was employed as a meat wrapper for 18 years at the S&S Market, and also S&S Meats, then Kimball Ridge Grocery and later Adams Grocery, retiring in 2001. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Survived by four nephews, Tony (Fran) Snyder of Urbana, Dan (Deb) Snyder of Dunkerton, Joel (Jill) Snyder of Waterloo and Randall (Josephine) Snyder of Winterset; a niece, Wendy (Mike) Castleman of Corsicana, Texas; and her dog, Kota

Preceded in death by three brothers, LeRoy, James and Gerald Gielau; and a sister, Jeanette Snyder.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Arrangements by Locke Funeral Home Inc., Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Madeline she sang in her church choir and attended Bible study. She enjoyed traveling with her friends very much, even bowling, achieving a 300 game, and a good crossword puzzle.
