CEDAR FALLS -- Mark S. Pulis, 98, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Martin Center at the Western Home in Cedar Falls.

He was born April 29, 1915, in Clarksville, son of Alva O. and Isadore Shepherd Pulis. He married Vera L. Sinram on July 16, 1946, in Waterloo. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2002.

He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1932 and Gates Business College, Waterloo, in 1936. Mr. Puls was employed by Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Calif., in 1940 and left in 1946 as assistant manager of the consignment accounting department. He then moved to Dubuque where he worked as a sales representative for Dubuque Container Co., later known as St. Regis Corp., retiring Jan. 1, 1980, after 34 years of service.

He won several tournaments over the years including the Waverly Invitational Golf Tournament in 1946, Iowa Singles Bowling Championship in Davenport in 1952 and in 1971 Dubuque’s All Events Scratch and Handicap Bowling Championship. He was also involved in securing a membership in “700 Bowling Clubs of America” for Dubuque in 1960.

Survived by a sister, Maurine Carlson of Cedar Falls; a niece, Donna (Robert) Grosse of Cedar Falls; and a nephew, Donald Carlson of Milwaukee.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, Waterloo. Kearns Funeral Service, Waterloo, and Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, are in charge of arrangements.
